When God Is Working Behind the Scenes

There’s something about waiting seasons that can make you question everything.

Waiting for prayers to be answered. Waiting for doors to open. Waiting for healing. Waiting for clarity. Waiting for God to move.

And if I’m being honest… sometimes the waiting feels louder than the answer.

As moms, wives, students, daughters, friends, and people trying our best to follow God, we don’t mind movement. We can handle busy. We can handle hard. But waiting? That’s a different kind of stretching.

Because in the waiting, there are no clear instructions. No flashing signs. No Amazon Prime shipping updates from heaven letting us know our breakthrough will arrive between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Just silence. Faith. And the choice to trust anyway.

I think one of the hardest parts about waiting is that we assume nothing is happening.

But God has never been absent in the silence.

Some of the most powerful things God does happen behind the scenes where we cannot see them yet.

Looking back over my own life, I can now see moments where I thought God had forgotten me… when really, He was preparing me. There were closed doors that broke my heart at the time, but later I realized they protected me. There were delays that frustrated me, but eventually I understood they were shaping me.

And honestly? Sometimes I still struggle with that.

The truth is… I am still in the waiting.

I do not have every answer yet. I cannot fully see what God is doing behind the scenes. And some days, if I am honest, the waiting still feels hard.

But deep down, there is also this quiet peace in my spirit that tells me the outcome is going to surpass anything I could have imagined for myself. Not because life is perfect. Not because everything has gone according to my plans. But because God has been faithful even in the uncertain places.

This past year especially has been a year of learning for me. Not just academically, emotionally, or spiritually… but deeply personally. And honestly, it has also been a year of growth for my 11-year-old daughter, who I homeschooled this year.

What started as something that felt intimidating at first became one of the biggest blessings for both of us. There were hard days, emotional days, messy days, and coffee-reheated-three-times kind of days. But there were also beautiful moments I know I would have missed otherwise. Moments of slowing down. Moments of growth. Moments where I could actually see God working in both of our lives.

And maybe that is the funny thing about waiting seasons. Sometimes while we are waiting for the big answer, God is quietly transforming us in the process.

Now don’t get me wrong… that homeschool journey deserves an entire blog post of its own because whew, God definitely humbled me this year. 😂

But through all of it, I keep learning that God does not waste seasons. Not the painful ones. Not the confusing ones. Not even the waiting ones.

I still have moments where I ask God, “What are You doing?” I still have moments where I wish His timing looked more like my timing.

And honestly, sometimes my prayers sound a little like:

“I wonder if God knows He can just talk to me normal instead of all these lessons and riddles and side quests. Bring back talking to people directly through burning bushes.”

Because whew… the character development this season has been intense. 😂

But even in the humor, there is truth there. Sometimes God teaches us in ways we do not immediately understand. Sometimes the lesson unfolds slowly. Sometimes the waiting itself becomes the lesson.

But faith was never supposed to be built only in the fulfilled prayers. Sometimes faith grows strongest in the unanswered moments.

Romans 8:28 says:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

Not some things. Not only the easy things. Not only the seasons that make sense. All things.

Even the waiting. Even the stretching. Even the moments where we feel unsure.

God is still working.

And maybe someone reading this today feels stuck in their own waiting season. Maybe you are praying for answers. Maybe you are carrying disappointment. Maybe you are exhausted from trying to hold everything together.

Friend, you are not forgotten.

God is not late. He is not distant. And He is not wasting this season of your life.

One day, I truly believe we will look back and realize that the very seasons we begged God to remove were the same seasons He used to grow us, strengthen us, redirect us, and prepare us.

And honestly? I think that is what faith really is. Choosing to trust God before the evidence arrives. Choosing peace before the breakthrough. Choosing surrender before the answer.

So, if you are in the waiting too… take a deep breath. You are not behind. You are not abandoned. And your story is not over.

God is still writing it.

And if He is anything like this past year has shown me… the ending will probably be better than anything we could have planned ourselves.

With love,

Raquel
